Man killed on Greenbury Point Road after high speed collision

UPDATE:  Friends of the man (who we are not identifying at this point due to family notifications), have told Eye On Annapolis that he suffered from a medical condition and that this may have been the cause of the accident.

A man was killed yesterday afternoon after a violent collision in front of the Naval Academy Primary School on Greenbury Point Road.

Details from the Naval Academy are sparse, but officials say that the vehicle left the road and crashed into 5 parked cars in an adjacent parking lot. There were no other injuries reported and the victim did not appear to have any relation to the US Naval Academy or the Naval Support station.

A witness of the accident called Eye On Annapolis last night and said the vehicle appeared to be traveling at speeds of more than 70 MPH.  Nearby golfers at the Naval Academy Golf Club were trying to get the driver’s attention to slow down. The car veered off the road just before the sharp curve at the primary school and was on two wheels as it moved across the nearby putting green before crashing.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle from the rear window and for a moment was trying to get up while a nearby golfer remained with him trying to keep him still.  Several witnesses to the accident also said that they saw a switchblade-type knife in after the crash as well as a sizable sum of bundled-up money.
