GiGi’s Playhouse fundraiser a whopping success

GiGi’s Playhouse Annapolis, a local non-profit that provides free educational and therapeutic programs for children and adults with Down syndrome, hosted its inaugural event “A Fashionable Afternoon – Celebrating the Upside of Down Syndrome”, on October 15, 2017 at the Historic Baldwin Hall in Millersville. The event showcased the latest LuLaRoe fashion modeled by local individuals with Down syndrome and raised over $7,500 for the local non-profit.

“Our first fashion show was an inspiring day where over 140 people who support the Down syndrome community came together to celebrate these inspiring individuals.” said Kim Eckert, president of GiGi’s Playhouse Annapolis, “We look forward to hosting future events to continue to spread awareness and acceptance in our community of Down syndrome.”

Models were first treated to a spa day at Sadona Salon and Spa where they had their makeup and hair done for the fashion show. Once they arrived at the Historic Baldwin Hall, they were provided with the latest LuLaRoe fashion to model during the show. Each model was paired with another and danced on stage to music while an emcee announced their names, ages, hobbies and provided details on their clothing. Some models took the microphone and added their own thoughts or gave “shout outs” to their family and friends.

The event featured light desserts, snacks, tea and lemonade to enjoy before and after the fashion show. Local LuLaRoe consultants were onsite with inventory to sell.

Sponsors for the event included: Alliance Orthopedic Labs, LLC , Annapolis Yacht Sales, Emergent, Gianni’s Pizza, Sandy Go and family, Mid-Atlantic Ammo, Moran Insurance, Novad Management Consulting, Pediatric Dental Specialists- Lawrence and Weng, Pickles Pub at Camden Yards, Sadona Salon and Spa, Savemart International Food, Joseph Seidel and family, LuLaRoe by Kesha Plummer and LuLaRoe by Victoria Zapata.
