LIVE BLOG: Navy Football Vs. Air Force | October 7, 2017 3:30pm

Navy and Air Force will meet for the 50th time in series history when they square off on Saturday afternoon in the first leg of the chase for the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy in front of what could be a record crowd at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (34,000). The stadium record for attendance is 38,205 set in 2013 against Air Force. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM (ET).

Navy has won the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy 10 of the last 14 years and has won 24 of the last 29 Service Academy games against Air Force and Army.

The National Anthem will take place at 3:19 PM, followed by a flyby at the end of the National Anthem by four Boeing F/A-18F Superhornets from the “Swordsmen” of Strike Fighter Squadron 32 based out of Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach. In the lead aircraft – Lt. Kyle “Judas” Webber, USNA Class of 2011, and Cmdr Wade “FLIB” Blizzard, Commanding Officer VFA-32, USNA Class of 1998. In Dash-2 – Lt. Jeff “Marv” Davis, USNA Class of 2012, and Lt. Bill “Dorothy” Adams, USAFA Class of 2007. In Dash-3 – Lt. Andrew “Mr. Tumnus” Weatherholt, USNA Class of 2012, and Lt. Matt “Syndrome” Lindeman, USNA Class of 2012. In Dash-4 – Lt. j.g. Ryan “Streetmeat” Furtner, USNA Class of 2012, and Capt. Christopher “Newg” Boyle, Commodore of Strike Fighter Wing Atlantic, USNA Class of 1992. The Swordsmen are attached to Carrier Air Wing Three and returned from a combat deployment onboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower in December 2016.

GAME COVERAGE

  • Saturday’s game will be televised nationally by CBS Sports Network with Carter Blackburn, Aaron Taylor and Jenny Dell on the call.
  • WBAL Radio (1090 AM) will air a two-and-a-half hour preview show before the 60-minute network pregame show beginning at 12 noon with Keith Mills and Scott Wykoff live from Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
  • The Navy Football Tailgate Show on WNAV 1430 AM / 99.9 FM will air at 1:30 PM.
  • The Navy Football Pregame Show with Pete Medhurst, Joe Miller and Tim Murray will get underway at 2:30 PM, followed by game action beginning at 3:30 PM on the Navy Radio Network.
  • Following the contest, Medhurst, Miller and Murray will recap the day’s events in a 30-minute postgame show.
