Immigration: Exploring today’s legal landscape; a free presentation at AACC

Anne Arundel Community College will host a symposium on “Immigration: Exploring Today’s Legal Landscape” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, to address the ever-changing landscape of U.S. immigration policy. This event, which is open to the public, will be held in the Cade Center for Fine Arts Room 219.

Sponsored by AACC’s Legal Studies Institute, the symposium will feature a diverse panel of experts including immigration legal service providers. An overview on the immigration process and agencies involved also will be provided, along with concrete information on where to seek assistance.

The panel includes:

  • Daniel Smulow, Esq., with the Department of Justice, Office of Immigration Litigation, Appellate Division.
  • Heather Mirium Benno, Esq., with Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Esperanza Center.
  • Gabriela Q. Kahrl, with University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, staff attorney, immigration clinic.
  • Nalma Said, Esq., with Said & Assoc. P.C., past chair of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, D.C. chapter, and the MSBA Immigration section.
