Cape St. Claire crash claims life of Annapolis man in single vehicle accident

On October 15th, 2017 at 3:35 am officers responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover crash on College Pkwy near Cape Saint Claire Rd in Cape St Claire (Annapolis).

Initial investigation found that a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up was northbound on College Parkway when it veered off the roadway to the right, struck the embankment and rolled over onto the roof. The unrestrained driver was found pinned under the vehicle and had to be extricated by Fire Department personnel. The remaining passengers were able to free themselves.

The driver, David A. Nawrocki (21) of Riverview Drive in Annapolis, was declared dead at the scene and was taken by the Medical Examiner to Baltimore for autopsy. The passengers (Thomas Crist, 17 of Arnold; William Grierson, 20 of Shady Side; Kasey Langer, 21 of Annapolis), were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) with minor or no injuries.

The primary cause of this collision is the driver failing to remain in a single lane and driving at a speed greater than reasonable for the wet roadway conditions. It is unclear if alcohol was a contributing factor though road conditions likely played a part.
