The Imaginators by Dwayne Hartman performed with permission of Dramatic Publishing Company, Woodstock, Illinois
July 21-August 11
Directed by Lynne Childress
This is the story of three children and the power of imagination. Anne and Tim have just moved to a new town. Anne refuses to play with her little brother, Tim, fearing that kids at her new school will see them and make fun of her. Then they meet the girl from next door, the fabulous Nina Frances Elizabeth Vanderhelden. Using moving boxes and other objects found in the garage, Nina takes an eager Tim and a reluctant Anne on a great make-believe adventure. The three battle the child-eating monster, the Mooklecratz. The children discover their own strengths, the value of cooperation, and the unlimited power of their imaginations as they figure out how to defeat the beast. The play encourages children and adults alike never to lose their sense of play and creativity.

BBPP was created by Lynne Streeter Childress, who has worked in theater for over 20 years  as an actor, singer, director, administrator and teaching artist, mostly for young audiences. Lynne has always believed in the power of the arts to cause people, particularly our kids, to think.  After watching the increasing racial, political and economic divisions our kids are growing up with, she started Building Better People Productions, which she says, “came out of the idea that children start out open and ready to learn, and that reaching them when they are young with positive messages about respect and understanding, will help build better people, from the ground up.” Our school touring show, “We Got It!: A Show About Empathy” is currently booking dates for its second year, and  is a theatrical adventure for k-5th graders in self-worth, empathy and those things that add up to all-around understanding. Get booking information for schools and community groups at  http://bbpproductions.com/shows/we-got-it/. Building Better People also offers specialized classes. Their Homeschool Improv classes are currently running at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts in Annapolis, and their Play Production classes for Homeschoolers start in early 2018.
