WNAV property sold, townhome development planned

A month ago, we learned that Bozutto had purchased the property where local AM radio station WNAV is located on Admiral Drive. This afternoon, Ward 2 Alderman, Fred Paone voiced his opinion in a Facebook post that he will oppose the development. Paone is currently facing a challenger in the November election.

WNAV had been for sale for some time without much success. Sajak Broadcasting, which owns the property and the station has entered into a purchase agreement with Bozutto to build the development.

We have have also learned that Bozutto has been negotiating with Admiral Heights residents to purchase the right of way to create access into the new community via Cedar Park Drive to avoid having the main entrance on Admiral Drive.

The caveat to this whole deal is that development in Annapolis is difficult. While there do not appear to be many environmental issues with the property, citizen resistance is likely. However, Bozutto is aware of building in Annapolis and already has several developments in the works. Bozutto was one of the builder of the Annapolis Towne Centre.

It is unknown what will happen to the the WNAV, the radio station if the development is approved.
