County police capture Annapolis shooting suspect after 7-hour standoff in Edgewater

UPDATE 703am:

This is an update from Annapolis Police.

At 5:25 a.m. the person of interest exited the home and was arrested without further incident. Detectives from the Annapolis Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for the person, Barnabas Offer, Jr., 25, of Annapolis for two counts of attempted murder and other related charges. Offer will be transported to the District Court Commissioner for his initial hearing.

Two other people were arrested last night in the 1100 block of Madison St during the investigation into the shooting. Craig Belt, 30, of Annapolis and Delvonta Wright, 25, of Severn were arrested and charged with handgun possession and fourth degree burglary after they were found in an apartment. The apartment resident, who was not home at the time, said Belt and Wright did not have permission to be inside the home. Officers obtained a search warrant for the apartment and a handgun was recovered inside. It is unknown at this time if this is the weapon used by the shooter. Belt and Wright will be transported to the District Court Commissioner for their initial hearings.

Both victims in the shooting remain in the same condition as reported last night.

On September 20, 2017, at approximately 10:45 p.m., members of the Anne Arundel County Police Department responded to an address in the 700 block of Central Avenue in Edgewater to look for a person of interest in a shooting that happened earlier in the evening in Annapolis City. The person of interest barricaded himself in the home and officers set up a perimeter to contain the person. Central Avenue (Route 214) was completely closed to all traffic. Negotiators were called to the scene and the barricade ended after 7 hours (5:45am) scene and the suspect is in police custody. There is no word yet on how the barricade ended, nor the name of the suspect.
