TSA’s TSA Pre✓® and Transportation Worker Identification Credential now available at select MVA locations

As part of the Hogan Administration’s commitment to improve customer service in Maryland state agencies, Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) Secretary Pete K. Rahn  joined other officials in introducing new TSA Pre✓® and Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card services at the Annapolis MDOT MVA branch office. Secretary Rahn was joined at the event by Christine E. Nizer, Administrator, Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MDOT MVA); Dave Espie, Director of Security, the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore; Nathan Tsoi, Section Chief of Operations, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Pre✓® Application Program; Louis Campion, President and CEO, Maryland Motor Truck Association (MMTA); and MorphoTrust Vice President Charles Carroll.

“Bringing these services to our MDOT MVA branch offices shows Governor Hogan’s commitment to increasing the availability and convenience of state government services,” said Secretary Rahn.

The TSA Pre✓® and TWIC card services are located inside designated MDOT MVA offices so customers can easily access these services. As of August 7, 494 TSA Pre✓® and 206 TWIC card transitions had been completed at the Annapolis, Salisbury, and Waldorf MDOT MVA branch offices since the services were offered in July.

“The TSA Pre✓® program allows U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents to enroll directly in TSA Pre✓® – an expedited screening program that allows travelers to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on, in select TSA airport checkpoint screening lanes,” says Ha McNeil, TSA’s Chief of Staff. “It is a convenience for passengers and it is an enhancement in security because it allows our TSA officers to pay more attention to the passengers we know less about.”

Maritime workers, longshoremen, truck drivers, terminal employees, and contractors need the TWIC card to access secure locations, including Maryland Port Administration facilities.

“MMTA looks forward to the expansion of TWIC services to Motor Vehicle Administration locations,” said MMTA President and CEO Louis Campion. “This will provide far greater accessibility for those working Marylanders who are required under federal law to obtain these credentials.”

“We are proud to provide IdentoGO services in select Maryland’s Motor Vehicle Administration offices,” said Charlie Carroll, SVP, Enrollment Services for MorphoTrust. “Offering enrollment services for TSA Pre✓® and TWIC gives Maryland residents a new level of convenience and customer service. I applaud the Maryland MVA for their innovative approach to furthering one-stop shopping to their residents.”

These services are now available at the Annapolis, Salisbury, and Waldorf MDOT MVA branches Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
