| August 21, 2017, 11:43 PM

The Bowie Baysox (66-60) managed just three hits in a 5-0 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils (65-61) on Monday night at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie.

Fightin Phils starter Franklyn Kilome (1-1) allowed three hits while walking four and fanning five in his eight innings of work. LHP Jeff Singer (1.0 IP, BB, K) tossed a scoreless ninth for the visitors.

Bowie did not have a hit after the second inning in the game.

Reading grabbed a 4-0 lead with a four-run fourth as a pair of singles put two men on before Drew Stankiewicz delivered a two-out, two-run double and later scored on Malquin Canelo’s RBI double. A throwing error charged to Baysox 3B Ryan Mountcastle allowed another run to score. All four runs in the inning came with two outs.

In the top of the fifth, Kyle Martin drew a two-out walk and scored from first on Zach Green’s RBI double to stretch the Reading lead to 5-0.

Baysox starter John Means (9-8) gave up the five runs (four earned) on seven hits while walking one and fanning six in 4.2 IP.

RHP Jason Garcia (3.1 IP, 2 H, 5 K) and LHP Tim Berry (1.0 IP, 3 K) both had a scoreless outing in relief for manager Gary Kendall’s squad.

The series continues on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. as RHP Yefry Ramirez (13-3, 3.27) gets the start for the Baysox against Fightin Phils LHP Cole Irvin (5-3, 4.34).
