Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Wes Adams announced today that Brandon Demon Johnson, 22, of Annapolis, pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder, and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Crime of Violence.
“Although he did not pull the trigger, the fact remains that the victim would be alive today were it not for the callous actions of Brandon Johnson,” said Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Wes Adams.”Anyone who displays such a blatant disregard for the value of human life will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
On September 3, 2016, police responded to Brooke Court in Annapolis for a report of gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers located a parked vehicle with a single occupant found to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Surveillance video from the area of the homicide shows the shooter, identified as Demari Crowdy, standing with a group of people near the 800 block of Brooke Court prior to the incident. Upon seeing the victim driving on Brooke Court, Crowdy approaches another member of the group, identified as Brandon Johnson.
Johnson is seen handing Crowdy a gun. Crowdy then runs to the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle and fires multiple shots. Crowdy and Johnson flee in the same direction. The entire incident is under video surveillance.
Johnson faces up to 50 years in prison as a result of these convictions. Sentencing is scheduled for October 10, 2017.
Judge Michele D. Jaklitsch presided over the case. Deputy State’s Attorney Jonathon Church and Assistant State’s Attorney Brian Palmer prosecuted the case on behalf of the citizens of Anne Arundel County.
