EDIT: Hildebrand was a volunteer with the Severna park High School Band and NOT the band director. The headline has been corrected.

Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Wes Adams announced today that Wilbur Jesse Hildebrand, Jr., 57, of Millersville pleaded guilty to three counts of Fourth Degree Sex Offense.

“I am grateful this case was brought to light,” said Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Wes Adams. “Teachers are among the most trusted individuals in our communities, and Wilbur Hildebrand abused this position of authority to sexually exploit one of his students.”

In October 2016, it was revealed that a former Severna Park High School student and Wilbur Hildebrand engaged in an ongoing sexual relationship. At the time, Hildebrand was the director of Severna Park High School’s jazz band, and frequently provided transportation to the victim.  He began requesting sexual favors from her while in his car, his home, and her home. This exploitation began when the victim was 16 years old.
Hildebrand faces up to 3 years in prison as a result of these convictions. Sentencing is scheduled for September 6, 2017.
Judge Michele D. Jaklitsch presided over the case. Assistant State’s Attorney Jason Miller prosecuted the case on behalf of the citizens of Anne Arundel County.
