Eleven Anne Arundel County environmental nonprofits raised over $200,000 during a new online collaborative fundraising initiative, called GreenGive. In the lead up to GreenGive, which ran from June 12 to June 13, the 11 Partners mobilized their constituents through email and social media to “become a force for the greener good” in Anne Arundel County by learning more about each of the 11 organizations. Then, supporters were encouraged to Pick 2 organizations to donate to during GreenGive.

GreenGive was intended to run for 24 hours, but was extended to 31 hours due to an overwhelming response from the community. From 5 p.m. on June 12 through midnight on June 13, 587 Anne Arundel County residents and businesses donated over $118,000 to the cause. An anonymous family foundation offered to match – dollar for dollar – any donation of $100 or more that came in through the GreenGive – up to $10,000 per organization! Through the match, GreenGive received an estimated $90,000, bringing the grand total to over $200,000.
“Anne Arundel County is blessed with an abundance of magnificent natural wonders,” said County Executive Steve Schuh. “Events like the GreenGive help ensure we can keep our County beautiful.”
