Baysox’ Tanner Scott selected to play in MLB Futures game

Bowie Baysox LHP Tanner Scott has been named to the United States team for the 2017 Sirius/XM All-Star Futures Game at Marlins Park in Miami on Sunday, July 9 at 4:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on MLB Network.

Scott is one of two Orioles prospects that will represent the U.S. Team as former Baysox catcher and current Norfolk Tide Chance Sisco was named to the squad as well.

Scott has posted a 1.40 ERA over 15 starts for Bowie this season, having allowed just seven earned runs in 45.0 IP. The Mogadore, Ohio native has fanned 57 batters in 45.0 IP (11.40 K/9.0 IP) and opponents are hitting .170 against Scott who has surrendered just 26 hits on the year. Furthermore, Scott has limited foes to a .081 AVG (3-37) with runners in scoring position. The southpaw was ranked as the No. 11 prospect in the Orioles system byBaseball America entering the season. Scott was selected by the Orioles in the 6th round of the 2014 draft out of Howard College (TX).

Major League Baseball, in conjunction with MLB.com, Baseball America and the 30 Major League Clubs, selected the 25 players currently on each team. The SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, which is now in its 19th year, features the top Minor League prospects competing as part of All-Star Sunday.
