Baysox take pair from the Yard Goats

Baysox FieldThe Bowie Baysox (44-41) took a pair of contests from the Hartford Yard Goats (36-47) on Wednesday night at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie.

In the resumption of Tuesday’s suspended game, Adrian Marin’stwo-out RBI walk-off single in the 12th lifted the Baysox to a 4-3 win. Game two was a seven inning contest and a four-run fourth broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Baysox to a 7-2 win.

The Baysox have now won eight in a row at home.

The series wraps up on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. with LHP Tanner Scott (0-1, 1.88) on the mound for the Baysox against Yard Goats LHP Jack Wynkoop (5-7, 4.95).

Game One

Marin’s two-out walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the 12thlifted the Bowie Baysox to a 4-3 win over the Hartford Yard Goats in a resumption of Tuesday’s suspended game on Wednesday night at Prince George’s Stadium.

In the bottom of the 12th, a walk and a single started the inning before Audry Perez singled to left and Aderlin Rodriguezscampered home from third on an error charged to Hartford LFDillon Thomas on the play to tie the game at three. An intentional walk loaded the bases with nobody out and Marin came through three batters later with the game-winning single.

Both runs were charged to Hartford RHP Edison Frias (1.2 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, K) who was dealt the loss and falls to 1-2.

LHP Tim Berry (3.0 IP, 3 H, R, ER, BB, 4 K) earned the win for Bowie to improve to 3-0.

Thomas was hit by a pitch to start the 12th, advanced to second on a walk, took third on a sac bunt and scored on Omar Carrizales’RBI single to give the Yard Goats a 3-2 lead for the time being.

In the bottom of the ninth, Austin Hays led off with a single, took second on a passed ball, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Rodriguez’s RBI single to tie things at two apiece for the Baysox.

The run was charged to RHP Shane Broyles (2.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 K) who blew his first save opportunity of the season.

Hartford had taken the lead at 2-1 in the sixth when Dom Nunezreached on a two-out double and scored on Jan Vazquez’s RBI single.

Both of Hartford’s runs were charged to Baysox RHP Lucas Long (5.0 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 5 K). Long retired the final eight batters that he faced.

RHP Johendi Jiminian surrendered two hits while fanning two over four shutout innings in relief for the Yard Goats.

The Baysox took a 1-0 lead with a run in the third as Audry Perez led off with a single, advanced to third on the play on an error charged to Carrizales in center and later scored on Stevie Wilkerson’s sac fly.

Carrizales’ two-out RBI single in the fifth tied the game at one apiece.

Yard Goats starter Konner Wade (n/d) gave up the one run (none earned) on two hits while fanning a pair over three innings of work.

Bowie starter Brandon Barker (n/d) surrendered three hits to go along with a walk and two strikeouts in four shutout innings.

Perez (2-5, R), Rodriguez (2-5, RBI, R) and DJ Stewart (2-4) all had a multi-hit game for the Baysox.

Game Two

A four-run fourth inning broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Bowie Baysox to a 7-2 win over the Hartford Yard Goats in game two on Wednesday night at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie.

In the afore-mentioned four-run fourth, a walk, single and a sac bunt E1 charged to Hartford starter Craig Schlitter loaded the bases with nobody out before Schlitter issued a bases loaded walk to Erick Salcedo, Mike Yastrzemski plated a pair with a two-run single and Stevie Wilkerson came through with an RBI single of his own.

Schlitter (0-1) surrendered six runs (five earned) on six hits to go along with three walks and five strikeouts in 3.1 IP.

Hartford grabbed an early 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first as Max White led off the game with a solo shot to right and Correlle Prime delivered an RBI single later in the frame.

Bowie starter Jesus Liranzo (n/d) gave up the two runs on four hits while walking two and fanning a career-high tying six batters in three innings of work.

RHP Jason Garcia (1.2 IP, 2 H, 3 BB, 2 K) got the win for the Baysox to improve to 5-2 on the year. RHP Ryan Meisinger (2.1 IP, H, 6 K) had a scoreless outing in relief to notch his fifth save of the year.

The Baysox quickly responded with a pair of runs in their own in the home half of the first as a walk and a single put two men on before Garabez Rosa knocked home a run with an RBI single and Stewart tied the game with a sac fly.

Stewart led off the fifth with a double, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on Chris O’Brien’s sac fly to stretch the Bowie lead to 7-2.

Yastrzemski (2-3, 2 RBI) had a multi-hit game for manager Gary Kendall’s squad.
