Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Wes Adams announced today that Demari Kareem Crowdy, 19, of Arnold, pleaded guilty to Second Degree Murder and related gun charges.

“Mr. Crowdy’s ability to steal the life of another reveals a mentality that puts our entire community at risk,” said Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney Wes Adams. “I am grateful to the Annapolis Police Department for ensuring Mr. Crowdy is brought to justice for his grave actions.”
On September 3, 2016, police responded to Brooke Court in Annapolis for a report of gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers located a parked vehicle with a single occupant found to be suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Surveillance video from the area of the homicide shows a man, identified by a witness as Demari Crowdy, standing with a group of people near the 800 block of Brooke Court prior to the incident. Upon seeing the victim driving on Brooke Court, Crowdy secures a gun from another man, runs to the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle, and fires multiple shots. The path Crowdy took throughout the incident is under video surveillance.
Crowdy faces up to 55 years in prison as a result of these convictions. Sentencing is scheduled for October 10, 2017.
Judge Michele D. Jaklitsch presided over the case. Deputy State’s Attorney Jonathon Church and Assistant State’s Attorney Brian Palmer prosecuted the case on behalf of the citizens of Anne Arundel County.
