Game One

Bowie took game one of a doubleheader from the Reading Fightin Phils by a score of 12-5 on Wednesday night.

The Baysox jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the first as a single and double put two men on with two outs before both runners scored on Rodriguez’s two-run bloop single that just landed in fair territory down the right field line.

Three more runs crossed the plate in the second when Garabez Rosa knocked home a pair with a two-run double and Rodriguez plated an RBI single to extend the Bowie lead to 5-0.

Reading added a run in each of the next two innings to cut the lead to 5-2.

Rodriguez’s two-run shot off of Fightin Phils starter Tyler Viza in the fourth opened up a 7-2 advantage for the Baysox.

Viza (3-4) allowed seven runs on nine hits while walking four and fanning three in 3.2 IP.

A pair of solo shots from Angelo Mora and Osmel Aguila in the fifth brought Reading within 7-5.

Bowie starter John Means (n/d) surrendered the five runs on 10 hits to go along with a walk and a strikeout in 4.2 IP. LHP Tim Berry (1.1 IP, 2 BB) and RHP Ryan Meisinger (1.0 IP, H, BB, 2 K) combined to close things out for the Baysox.

In the top of the seventh, Rodriguez plated his ninth run of the night with an RBI single and Stevie Wilkerson knocked in a run with an RBI single of his own to make it a 12-5 game in favor of Bowie.

Reading starter Mario Sanchez (3-1) surrendered the three hits to go along with a walk and three strikeouts over six shutout innings. RHP Colton Murray (1.0 IP) tossed a scoreless seventh for the Fightins.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth before a three-run frame gave Reading a 3-0 lead.

In the afore-mentioned fourth inning, a two-run shot from Mitch Walding and a solo shot from Kyle Martin put the Fightin Phils on the board.

Bowie starter David Hess (6-4) allowed the three runs on four hits while walking four and fanning six in four innings of work.
