On February 21, 2017, the Department of Social Services and the Anne Arundel County Child Abuse Unit were notified of inappropriate contact between a North County High School Employee and a juvenile female student. The employee was identified as Marvin Leon Brown Jr., a thirty six year old male from the 15000 block of Copper Beach Drive, Upper Marlboro Maryland 20774. Marvin Brown Jr. worked as a Behavioral Assistant and Football Coach at North County High School located in Glen Burnie Maryland since August 2015.
The juvenile victim disclosed Marvin Brown Jr. would send messages to her cell phone during and after school hours. In February 2017, the victim advised Marvin Brown Jr. touched her inappropriately over the clothing. During this investigation several interviews were conducted as well as evidence collected from digital devices.
Anne Arundel County Public Schools has cooperated with law enforcement authorities throughout this investigation. Since the initial allegation, the school system had reassigned Marvin Brown Jr. to a position in which he had no contact with children.
Working in conjunction with the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office the Child Abuse Unit secured an arrest warrant for the suspect charging him with Second Degree Assault and a Fourth Degree Sex Offense. On Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at approximately 1:00 p.m. Marvin Brown Jr. was taken into custody without incident at his residence.
