| June 01, 2017, 11:39 PM

Baysox FieldA throwing error in the top of the 14th allowed the go-ahead run to score and the Bowie Baysox (28-26) dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker to the Erie SeaWolves (23-27) in the rubber match on Thursday night at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie.

The SeaWolves’ Ross Kivett drew a leadoff walk, stole second, took third on a sac bunt and scored on a throwing error charged to Baysox 3B Stevie Wilkerson to give the visitors a 4-3 edge.

RHP Jesus Liranzo (1.0 IP, H, R, ER, BB, 2 K) was tagged with the loss for Bowie and drops to 1-2 on the year.

RHP Kurt Spomer (1.1 IP, 3 BB, K) got the win for Erie to even his win at 3-3 on the year.

Bowie had runners at first and second with two outs in the 14th, but Spomer got Wilkerson to pop out to short and end the contest.

Trailing 3-2, the Baysox tied it with a run in the 11th as Erick Salcedo drew a leadoff walk, took second on a sac bunt, went to third on an infield single and scored on Austin Wynns’ RBI groundout.

Zach Cox’s two-out RBI single in the top half of the inning had given Erie a lead for the time being. The run was charged to RHP Ryan Meisinger (2.0 IP, 2 H, R, ER, 2 BB, 3 K).

Wilkerson’s solo shot in the home half of the fourth gave the Baysox a 1-0 lead. The home run was Wilkerson’s third of the season.

Erie got the run back in the fifth as Cox reached with a two-out single, advanced to third on a single and scored on a wild pitch charged to Bowie starter David Hess.

The Baysox took a 2-1 lead in the home half of the frame as Glynn Davis led off with a single, took second on a throwing error charged to Erie starter Matt Crouse and scored on Adrian Marin’s RBI double.

Hess (n/d) allowed the one run on five hits while walking one and fanning one in 6.2 IP.

Crouse (n/d) gave up two runs on seven hits to go along with two walks and four strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Harold Castro tied things at two apiece for Erie in the eighth with a solo shot off of RHP Lucas Long (2.1 IP, H, R, ER, 4 K).

The SeaWolves had the go-ahead run at third with one out in the 12th and the bases loaded with two away in the 13th, but LHP Tim Berry (2.0 IP, 3 H, BB, 6 K) was able to work his way out of both jams.

Marin (3-6, 2B, RBI) and Wilkerson (3-6, HR, RBI, R) both delivered multi-hit games for manager Gary Kendall’s squad. Garabez Rosa singled to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.

Bowie opens a three-game set with the Altoona Curve on Friday night at Prince George’s Stadium. First pitch of the series opener is set for 7:05 p.m. with LHP Tanner Scott (0-0, 1.80) slated to make the start for the Baysox against Curve RHP Yeudy Garcia (2-3, 5.09).
