Salcedo’s walk-off single in the 10th lifts Baysox over SeaWolves

Baysox FieldErick Salcedo’s walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th lifted the Bowie Baysox (13-11) to their second straight win with a 6-5 victory over the Erie SeaWolves (10-13) on Tuesday morning at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie.

Salcedo drove in all six runs on the afternoon for the Baysox, a new career-high.

Aderlin Rodriguez reached with a one-out double in the 10th, advanced to third on a single and scored on Salcedo’s walk-off single into shallow right field to give Bowie the win.

RHP Kurt Spomer (0.2 IP, 3 H, R, ER, BB, 2 K) was tagged with the loss for Erie and falls to 0-1 on the year.

RHP Ryan Meisinger (2.0 IP, 2 H) earned the win for Bowie to improve to 3-0 on the year.

A single and a hit batsmen followed by a sac bunt put two men in scoring position in the ninth before Jeff McVaney tied things at five apiece for Erie with a two-out, two-run double into the left centerfield gap. Both runs were charged to LHP Garrett Cleavinger (1.0 IP, 2 H, 4 R, 4 ER, BB).

This marks the first six-RBI game by a Baysox player since Quincy Lattimore plated six on September 11, 2015 vs. Altoona in the Eastern League Playoffs.

Salcedo delivered his third home run of the homestand with a three-run blast in the seventh to give the Baysox a 5-1 lead for the time being. The home run was Salcedo’s third of the season after hitting three in his entire MiLB career prior to this season.

Trailing 2-1, the SeaWolves had runners at first and second with one out in the sixth, but RHP Jason Garcia (4.0 IP, 2 H, R, ER, 3 BB, 2 K) got back-to-back flyouts to end the inning.

The Baysox took a 1-0 lead with a run in the second as Audry Perez roped a leadoff double, advanced to third on a single and later scored on Salcedo’s RBI single.

Gabriel Quintana’s solo shot off of Garcia tied things at one apiece for Erie in the fourth.

Baysox starter Tanner Scott (n/d) did not allow a hit while walking four and fanning four in three shutout innings.

Erie starter Artie Lewicki (n/d) allowed four runs on nine hits to go along with two walks and four strikeouts in 5.1 IP.

Bowie quickly struck back to take the lead in the home half of the fourth as Jeff Kemp led off with a single, advanced to second on a sac bunt and scored on Salcedo’s second RBI single of the day.

In the top of the eighth, a walk and a hit batsmen put two men on before both runners scored on Dominic Ficociello’s two-run single to bring Erie within 5-3.

Four different players had multi-hit games for Bowie: Salcedo (4-5, HR, 6 RBI, R), Rosa (2-5, SB), Kemp (2-4, R) and Perez (2-5, 2B, 2 R).

The four hits for Salcedo also tied a career-high, his first four-hit game since July 18, 2016 with Frederick (A+).

The series wraps up on Wednesday at 11:05 a.m. as RHP Matthew Grimes (0-2, 2.93) will be on the bump for the Baysox against SeaWolves LHP Matt Crouse (3-0, 4.05).
