Lucas Long registers first Bowie complete game in 12-2 win

Baysox FieldThe Baysox blew open a close game two and got a complete game from spot starter Lucas Long in a 12-2 game two win. The opener in the double dip went to Richmond by a final of 7-2.

Baysox infielder Adrian Marin had another huge night. He registered six hits in the doubleheader while scoring four runs in the nightcap. Backstop Austin Wynns added four hits in the twin bill as Bowie had a combined 25 hits in just 14 innings.

In the nightcap, DJ Stewart doubled to open the game and scored with two down on a Garabez Rosa RBI-single. In his Eastern League debut, catcher Yermin Mercedes then grounded a single up the middle and Bowie led 2-0.

Up 2-1 in the fifth inning, Bowie blew it open. Stewart walked, Marin reached on a perfect bunt single and Wynns then laid down a sacrifice bunt to the pitcher Matt Lujan. Lujan got greedy trying to get the lead runner at third and everyone was safe. The table was then set for the five-run rally.

In the opener, John Means threw just 46 pitches in four strong innings out of the gate. After Marin’s two-out RBI-single in the fifth grabbed a 2-1 lead, Richmond rallied. They got to Means for three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to send the Baysox to a 7-2 defeat.

The game two win brought the Baysox back to .500 at 14-14 and ended a three-game losing streak.

Game four of the five game series is set for Saturday, May 6th at 6:05 p.m. with David Hess toeing the slab. Coverage begins 20-minutes before first pitch on, and via the MILB, Tune-In Radio and WNAV Apps.
