Baysox record just three hits in 2-1 loss in Reading

Baysox FieldBowie saw their three-game winning streak come to an end as their outstanding offensive attack was slowed down for an evening. Reading starter Drew Anderson struck out ten batters in seven strong innings and the Baysox fell by a 2-1 final Monday night.

The Baysox did not have a baserunner until the sixth inning as the first 15 Bowie hitters were retired. After stranding two runners aboard in the sixth, Garabez Rosa continued his hot stretch with a solo home run in the seventh. The line drive shot was his fifth of the year and second in as many days.

But it would be the lone run for the Baysox. Bowie went down in order in both the eighth and ninth innings.

Baysox starter Matthew Grimes worked well through six innings in a losing effort. He allowed a fourth inning solo home run to center field from Mitch Walding and another run after a leadoff walk in the fifth inning. All-in-all, Grimes pitched beautifully with runners on base minimizing the damage and keeping the Baysox right in the thick of the game.

Jefri Hernandez then came on and worked two scoreless innings including striking out the side in the seventh inning.

The series continues Tuesday, May 9th at 6:35 p.m. with Brandon Barker getting the start for the Baysox. Coverage begins 20-minutes before first pitch on baysox.com, wnav.com and via the MILB, Tune-In Radio and WNAV Apps.

Bowie returns home for a weekend four-game series with Richmond Thursday, May 11th at 6:35 p.m. Fireworks will follow the May 12th and 13th games. Get your tickets at 301-805-6000 or online at baysox.com.
