| May 24, 2017, 10:42 PM

Baysox FieldBowie took the lead for good with a three-run second and the Baysox (23-23) snapped a three-game skid by holding on for a 6-4 win over the Hartford Yard Goats (21-23) on Wednesday night at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie.

The victory snapped a seven-game winning streak for Hartford.

The Yard Goats had runners at first and second with nobody out in the eighth, but RHP Lucas Long was able to get Dillon Thomas to ground into a fielder’s choice and a 6-4-3 double play off the bat of Jan Vazquez ended the threat.

Long (3.0 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 3 K) got the final nine outs to notch his second save of the year.

In the afore-mentioned three-run second, a pair of singles and a walk loaded the bases with two outs beforeGarabez Rosa plated a pair with a two-run single and Austin Wynns (2-3, RBI) followed with an RBI single of his own to open up a 5-2 advantage for Bowie.

Drew Weeks’ two-run shot in the top of the first opened up an early 2-0 lead for the Yard Goats.

The Baysox quickly tied things at two apiece with a pair of runs in the first as DJ Stewart knocked home a run with an RBI double and Rosa reached on a fielder’s choice, took third on a single and scored on an error charged to Thomas in left field.

Tucker Nathans doubled to lead off the third for Bowie and scored on a sac bunt from Stevie Wilkerson with a throwing error on the play from Hartford starter Konner Wade to give the Baysox a 6-3 lead.

Wade (1-4) allowed the six runs on nine hits while walking one and fanning four in five innings of work.

In the top of the fifth, Josh Fuentes’ solo shot off of Bowie starter Matthew Grimes brought Hartford within 6-4.

Grimes (1-4) gave up four runs on four hits to go along with two walks and five strikeouts in 6.0 IP. The win for Grimes marked his first since August 28, 2016 vs. Binghamton.

The series wraps up on Thursday at 11:05 a.m. as RHP Brandon Barker (1-1, 3.86) will be on the bump for the Baysox against Yard Goats RHP Parker French (3-3, 3.86).
