Plan early for “A Day of Service” with the Volunteer Center

Make Monday, January 16, 2017, a “Day On not a Day Off”.  To Celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the Anne Arundel County Volunteer Center, Church on the Rock and their partners invite you to celebrate by coming together and volunteering for several nonprofit organizations at one central location.

The Event will be held on Monday, January 16th in two shifts from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Church on the Rock, 649 Old Mill Road, Millersville, MD 21108.

You and your family, or your group, are invited to enjoy all the fun and interesting volunteer opportunities while giving back to your community.   Design Valentines for our troops overseas and their families at home.  Decorate and assemble toiletry bags for backpacks going to children in foster care. Make cards for seniors and shut-ins.  Join in activities that teach basic conflict resolution and communication skills.  Participate in a project for people with developmental disabilities, and more.

Bring a nonperishable food item for the Anne Arundel Food and Resource Bank. We will also be collecting new or gently used, washable coats for children, sizes infant to high school to distribute to children in need through HOPE For All, Chrysalis House and the International Student Services Office (ISSO) at Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

Dr. Martin Luther King Day of Service at Church on the Rock is open to all ages. Participants, ages 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for every group of 6 youth).
