Final SERC lecture: Urban Ecology, November 15th

SERCThe Smithsonian Environmental Research Center (SERC), will be holding the grand finale of their evening lecture series at SERC on November 15, with a more unconventional talk about doing environmental science in cities – something environmentalists in Annapolis would probably be interested in.

The final lecture will more festive than usual, and will be held in the green lab with a pre-dessert reception beforehand.

The event is free and open to everyone, no reservations required. 

Smithsonian Keynote Lecture: 20 Years of Urban Ecology

  • Time: Tuesday, Nov. 15, 8-9pm
  • Place: Smithsonian Environmental Research Center, Charles McC. Mathias Lab
  • Description: What’s the secret to making cities more sustainable? Find out from urban ecologist Steward Pickett, at the grand finale of the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center’s 2016 evening lecture series. Pickett will explore the ecology of cities, and what 20 years of research have revealed about how humans, plants, animals and environments interact in downtown ecosystems. Lecture starts at 8pm, with a pre-lecture dessert reception at 7pm. Free and open to all! No pre-registration required.
