The King William Players, the St. John’s College student theater troupe, will perform Shakespeare’s classic comedy “As You Like It.” A mad, screwball romp, the play is a showpiece for some of Shakespeare’s most hilarious and intriguing characters. Directed by St. John’s junior Alex Warren and Assistant Director Sarah Irving, a St. John’s sophomore and starring juniors Simone Louwe, Cyrus Multhauf, and Noah Burns, the production is set in the late 1960s, capitalizing on the wild freedoms and disillusionment of the era. Performances, which are free and open to the public, will be held on November 18 and 19 at 8 p.m. in the Francis Scott Key Auditorium. Tickets and reservations are not required.
The theater performances are among the many programs and events in celebration of the national traveling exhibition “First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare” on tour from the Folger Shakespeare Library. The exhibition is on view through December 4 at the Mitchell Gallery at St. John’s College.
