Anne Arundel County Police release more information, arrests in Annapolis stabbing

This is a follow up to a story originally published on October 23rd.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department worked with the Annapolis Police Department as the investigation into these violent attacks continued. The victims were identified as  a 19 year old male and  a 28 year old male and they are both from the 1000 block of Martha Court, Annapolis Maryland. Both victims are still currently hospitalized and being treated for their life threatening injuries.

During the initial investigation on Sunday, October 23, 2016 Fermin Gomez Jimenez, a nineteen year old male, was taken into custody hiding in a nearby wooded area. Anne Arundel County Homicide detectives charged Fermin Jimenez with two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder, two counts of First Degree Assault, and two counts of Second Degree Assault. He is still being held in the Anne Arundel County Detention Center pending trial at this time.

As Anne Arundel County Homicide Detectives worked jointly with Annapolis Police Department detectives several interviews were done with witnesses and victims. The police departments were able to piece together the chain of events leading to this violent confrontation and identify multiple suspects. Information developed advised during the attack the victims were robbed of various items to include an automobile. The automobile has since been recovered as evidence. Armed with this information Anne Arundel County Homicide detectives obtained arrest warrants for four additional suspects.

With the assistance of the Annapolis Police Department a large scale operation took place during the early morning hours of Thursday, October 27, 2016. Annapolis Police Detectives worked with Anne Arundel County Homicide detectives, the Fugitive Apprehension Team, and members of the Western District Tactical Patrol Unit to locate several suspects wanted in connection with the attack.

During the operation Omar Castaneda Hernandez, a twenty three year old male, from the one block of Amberstone Court, Annapolis Maryland was taken into custody without incident. Omar Hernandez was charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder. First Degree Assault, Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Armed Robbery, two counts of Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, Robbery, Firearm Use in a Felony Violent Crime, Conspiracy for Firearm Use in a Felony Violent Crime, Handgun on a Person, Theft $1000.00 to under $10,000.00, Conspiracy to Commit Theft $1000.00 to under $10,000.00, Motor Vehicle Unlawful Taking and Conspiracy to Commit Motor Vehicle Unlawful Taking. Omar Hernandez is currently being held at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center pending trial at this time.

Detectives also located and took Santos Menjivar Cortez, a seventeen year old male from the 600 block of Cutter Court, Annapolis, Maryland into custody without incident. Santos Cortez was charged as an adult with Attempted First Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder, two counts of First Degree Assault, two counts of Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Assault, two counts of Second Degree Assault, two counts of Reckless Endangerment, Armed Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Firearm Use in a Felony Violent Crime, Conspiracy for Firearm Use in a Felony Violent Crime, Handgun on a Person, Theft $1000.00 to under $10,000.00, Conspiracy to Commit Theft $1000.00 to under $10,000.00, Motor Vehicle Unlawful Taking and Conspiracy to Motor Vehicle Unlawful Taking. Santos Cortez is currently being held at the Anne Commit Arundel County Detention Center pending trial at this time.

Detectives also located and took Manuel Martinez Aguilar, an eighteen year old male from the 600 block of Tripp Creek Court, Annapolis, Maryland into custody without incident. Manuel Aguilar was charged Attempted Second Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Armed Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Firearm Use in a Felony Violent Crime, Conspiracy for Firearm Use in a Felony Violent Crime, Handgun on a Person, Theft $1000.00 to under $10,000.00, Conspiracy to Commit Theft $1000.00 to under $10,000.00, Motor Vehicle Unlawful Taking and Conspiracy to Motor Vehicle Unlawful Taking. Manuel Aguilar is currently being held at the Anne Commit Arundel County Detention Center pending trial at this time.

Detectives are still searching for a fourth suspect in regards to the attempted murder. He has been identified as Elmer Armando Guillen Marroquin, a seventeen year old male from the 200 block of Farragut Court, Annapolis, Maryland. Elmer Marroquin has been charged as an adult with Attempted Second Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Armed Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Firearm Use in a Felony Violent Crime, Conspiracy for Firearm Use in a Felony Violent Crime, Handgun on a Person, Theft $1000.00 to under $10,000.00, Conspiracy to Commit Theft $1000.00 to under $10,000.00, Motor Vehicle Unlawful Taking and Conspiracy to Motor Vehicle Unlawful Taking.

The Anne Arundel County Police and the Annapolis Police Department are actively looking for the outstanding suspect, Elmer A. Guillen Marroquin, in this investigation. At this time we are releasing the suspect’s photo in an attempt to locate him. The suspect, Elmer Marroquin, should be considered armed and dangerous. If a citizen comes across him please do not approach and call 911 immediately.

During the operation multiple search warrants were executed where items of evidentiary value were collected. Also as the operation was being conducted two additional wanted persons unrelated to the crime being investigated were also arrested on outstanding warrants. Ronald Adonay Sosa, an eighteen year old male from the 6000 block of Seventh Street, Edgewater, Maryland was located and taken into custody on an outstanding Robbery warrant. Edwin Geovanni Menjivar Cortez was located in the 600 block of Cutter Court, Annapolis Maryland where he was arrested on an outstanding Warrant of Removal/Deportation.

Preliminarily this incident appears to be a targeted event and not a random act of violence.
