shades of the bayShades of the Bay is proudly participating in the Movember Foundation’s annual Movember campaign, which challenges men to grow a moustache, men and women to be physically active and move, or host a fundraising event – all of which spark conversations and raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health.

Shades of the Bay has reached out to other Annapolis businesses to join them in participating in Movember. They’ll be holding a Kick-Off Event at the Main Street store on November 1st at the crack of noon for Team Captains and representatives. During the month of November Shades of the Bay will be donating 10% of the purchase price of sales when a customer mentions Movember, this includes matching the donation Hoven Sunglasses is making on the three styles that are the official Shades of Movember that the store will be carrying. Plans are also in the works for a VIP Wrap Party at the conclusion of Movember where prizes will be awarded for Most Creative Event, Miss MOVEmber, Most Impressive Mo and Most Money Raised.

The Movember Foundation is the only global charity focused solely on men’s health. Men and women sign up at Movember.com, and choose to Grow, Move or Host. Men start Movember 1st clean-shaven and grow only a moustache for the month, or men and women can commit to move every day during Movember or host an event. Participants get friends, family, or colleagues to donate to their efforts to change the face of men’s health.

The Movember community has raised over $710 million and has funded more than 1,200 men’s health projects in 21 countries to date. This work is helping men live happier, healthier, and longer lives through investing in these key areas: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention.

Movember was a natural fit for Shades of the Bay, not only do several employees have family members who have suffered from these health issues but men make up a large part of the customer base at Shades of the Bay. To get involved please start a team, shop at Shades of the Bay in November & mention Movember or make a donation via .

“Annapolis has been very good to me for many years,” said Shades of the Bay owner Linda Mann, “without the suport of this community and the loyalty of local customers Shades of the Bay wouldn’t have been able to thrive. Holding fundraisers for local organizations and participating in Movember are ways we can give back to the community. Other local businesses can still join us, it should be a lot of fun!”
