Police discover body of suspect in Glen Burnie murder

On Tuesday, September 13, 2016, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on the deceased ten year old female. The Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the cause of death as multiple stab/cut wounds with the manner being homicide.

Multiple Anne Arundel County Police resources were utilized around the clock since the murder occurred in an attempt to locate the suspect, Andres Garcia. On Friday, September 16, 2016, a large scale search operation was put in motion to locate Andres Garcia. The Anne Arundel County Police established a command center in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway supported by the Anne Arundel Alarmer’s Association. A large contingent of search teams from around the state and region responded to assist in this endeavor. The search teams were made up mostly of volunteers but law enforcement entities from the state also participated. The search teams consisted of manned search teams, canine search teams and also equestrian teams. There were twenty search areas to cover with thirteen teams originally deployed in the field.

At approximately 11:07 a.m., a search team located a deceased male in a fenced in culvert surrounded by trees and brush. The body was positively identified as Andres Rafael Quintana Garcia, the person wanted for the murder of the ten year old child and the attempted murder of her thirteen year old male. Anne Arundel County Homicide detectives assisted by the Evidence Collection Unit responded to process the scene. Preliminary information indicated Andres Garcia had been deceased for a period of time and evidence at the scene showed he may have taken his own life. The body of Andres Garcia will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause and manner of death.
