Kitchen fire at Cheeburger, Cheeburger causes $150K damages to 4 businesses at Festival at Riva

Four commercial occupancies sustained damage following an early morning fire at the Festival at Riva shopping center in Annapolis.

Just after 2:00 a.m. firefighters responded for the report of a “burning smell” in the area of the Cheeburger Cheeburger located at 2329 Forest Drive.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke coming from the rear of the occupancy. Upon entry, they discovered a fire in the kitchen area which was contained by the carbon dioxide fire suppression system. Firefighters quickly extinguished the remaining fire.

In checking adjacent stores, firefighters found three which had sustained smoke and water damage. Representatives from all of the businesses were notified, and the Anne Arundel County Health Department was notified for the food establishments.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by members of the Anne Arundel County Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit. Damages to all occupancies is estimated to be in excess of $150,000. There were no injuries.
