ignite-annapolis5 Minutes, 20 slides. What would you say to Annapolis? Enlighten us, but make it quick.

Organizers Kris Valerio Shock, Liz Thibodeau, Kathleen Booth and Gavin Buckley are excited to announce the second Ignite Annapolis event is scheduled to take place from 7:00-9:00pm on Wednesday, November 30th at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.

If you had five minutes on stage, what would you say to Annapolis? What if you only got 20 slides and they rotated automatically after 15 seconds? Following an initial Ignite Annapolis event in 2009 and subsequent hugely successful Ignite events in Baltimore and Howard County, on November 30th at 7 pm, 16 artists, technologists, entrepreneurs, and philosophers will answer this challenge at Ignite Annapolis #2. The event will be held at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, at 801 Chase Street, Annapolis, MD.

Call for Proposals:

“Ignite is about bringing a diverse group of passionate individuals together to share their ‘message to the universe’ and literally ignite connections across disciplines and interests. It is an all-volunteer initiative about driving innovative thought leadership and building community.” Said Organizer, Kris Valerio Shock. “Right now what we need is for the most interesting minds in Annapolis to submit proposals for 5 minute presentations. Ideally we will receive a huge range of topics, which we’ll narrow down to sixteen (16) 5-minute presentations for the Ignite Annapolis #2 event.”

The deadline to submit a proposal is October 15, 2016.

Topics at previous Ignite presentations have included:

  • Lessons from an Accidental Paddler
  • Creating Super Secure Passwords that are Easy to Remember
  • Everything I Ever Needed to Know I Learned from Doing Triathlons
  • 100 mistakes I will try not to make again
  • 12 Hard-Won Lessons of Entrepreneurship
  • What Jimmy Stewart can teach us about the US tech industry
  • Why learning how to dance will make you a better person
