Annapolis Fringe Festival get prepared for FunThis week Annapolis will be celebrating the arts and having fun at the Annapolis Fringe festival from September 21 through 24 The festival expands this year from a one day event to a four day event with dozens of activities (some free & some fee) to choose from. You will find events along West Street from Westgate Circle to Church Circle and beyond. Expect to find concerts, exhibits, performances and the ever popular Fringe Street Party. Some of the weeks biggest events include the final Dinner Under the Stars event (Sept 21) This weekly dining event has been one of the biggest hits of the summer as restaurants on the first block of West Street have served about 1,000 dinners every Wednesday evening in the middle of the street, al fresco style, under a light canopy, with live music, and dancing in the street. This weeks entertainment during Dinner Under The Stars (6pm-10pm) includes Dixieland music by Sac Au Lait, Tango dance by Annapolis Tango and belly dancing by Sestraluna. Thursday and Friday (Sept 22-23) evening at Rams Head On Stage is Here Come the Mummies This show is an eight-piece funk-rock band of 5000 year-old Egyptian Mummies with a one-track mind. Their “Terrifying Funk from Beyond the Grave” is sure to get you into them (and possibly vice versa). Friday (Sept 23) evening the fringe gets you into the exclusive and Historic Mann’s Tavern, which was frequented to our founding fathers, yet very few of us have had the privilege of entering. The Fringe is hosing a concert there called Diva’s and Dreamers. The show features the Johnson Male Chorus singing out high energy gospel music, the Pipe Dreamers which have been singing Motown since the days of Carr’s beach and Tweety’s Divas an award winning Drag Show group. Saturday night (Sept 24) it all comes to end with a big street party on West Street filled with all kinds of artists.
