Coastal South is pleased to announce the appointment of Dereck Janes to President. Coastal South has developed waterfront properties along the eastern seaboard from Florida to Cape Cod. Over the past 35 years, they have owned, operated and managed marinas, resorts, hotels, restaurants, and waterfront housing projects. Locally on the Eastern Shore, Coastal South now owns and operates the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club and The Inn at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club. Additionally, Coastal South is the managing partner and operator of the Tidewater Inn in Easton and Gibson’s Grant, a traditional waterfront neighborhood development on Kent Island.
Dereck Janes, is a Kent Island native and ’93 graduate of Queen Anne’s County High School and East Carolina University. In 2015, Janes completed the acclaimed General Managers Program at Cornell University gaining invaluable knowledge from elite hoteliers both domestic and internationally. In 1999, Janes joined the opening team of the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club and has since guided the operations of the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club through substantial expansion including the 2015 much acclaimed opening of The Inn at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club and the acquisition of the Tidewater Inn in 2009.
