UPDATE: The deceased victim of the homicide has been identified as Davon Jones, 25, of Dunkirk.
On September 3rd at 4:29 p.m. officers responded to the 800 block of Brooke Court for several reports of shots fired. Officers located a vehicle with an injured male victim inside. The victim was shot and was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center where he died from his injuries. Detectives are actively investigating this homicide.

This is the 8th homicide in Annapolis this year. 2007 and 2008 were the deadliest years on record with each reporting 8 homicides. This location is also located in the Newtown 20 community which is managed by the Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis (HACA) which has been plagued with turnover both in terms of employees and Board members. The Board recently dismissed the newly hired Executive Director, Melvin Colbert. This marks the second homicide in the neighborhood this year. In addition, there was another non-fatal shooting.
