Sisco’s bat hot, but Baysox still fall

Baysox 2016The Baysox snapped a season-high four game home winning streak with a 3-1 loss against Harrisburg Tuesday. Bowie was no match for Harrisburg starter Phillips Valdez, who pitched 7.2 innings and allowed just one run in the win.

Baysox catcher Chance Sisco enjoyed a 4-for-4 night at the plate and now has eight hits in his last nine at-bats. The three singles and one double raised his batting average to .320 on the season.

Baltimore Orioles LHP Brian Duensing pitched with the Baysox on a Major League Rehab Assignment. He threw the seventh and eighth innings, and did not allow a run on one hit with a strikeout.

The Senators struck first in the top of the third inning against Baysox starter John Means. Isaac Ballou hit a lead-off single to center field and he scored on a Brian Jeroloman triple to right field to give Harrisburg a 1-0 lead.

Chris Dickerson tied the game, 1-1, in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run to center field off Harrisburg starter Phillips Valdez. 

Harrisburg retook the lead with some good base-running in the top of the fifth inning. Ballou reached on a one-out bunt single to second base and Adrian Sanchez followed with an RBI triple to center field. With two outs, Bautista reached on another bunt single that allowed Sanchez to score and give the Senators a 3-1 lead.

Means threw six innings and allowed three runs on six hits while striking out four and walking two in the loss. Reliever Tanner Scott pitched a scoreless ninth inning, walking two batters. 

The Baysox are home through Thursday, Sep. 1 for the final four game home series of the season against the Harrisburg Senators. Wednesday is the final Military Appreciation Night and Orange Wednesday of the season at 7:05 p.m. RHP Brandon Barker (5-6, 4.43) gets the start and he will be opposed by RHP Erick Fedde (2-1, 4.63).
