Police seek public’s help with spate of sexual assaults

sexual-assaultThe Anne Arundel County Police Department is investigating two sexual assaults that have occurred in the Brooklyn and Curtis Bay areas of Anne Arundel County. The two incidents involve two separate suspects and are not believed to be related. In both incidents the victims were picked up in nearby Baltimore City and entered vehicles driven by the suspects with no knowledge of who the drivers (suspects) were.

The first incident occurred on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at approximately 3:45 p.m. near Cedar Hill Lane and Snow Hill Lane at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Brooklyn. The victim was picked up in the area of 4th Avenue and Washburn Avenue in the Baltimore City section of Brooklyn and driven to this location where she was sexually assaulted by the suspect. The suspect in that case is described as a black male, about 5’7”, and stocky build. He was wearing a light colored, short sleeve polo style shirt with blue stripes, khaki shorts, and white and red Nike sneakers. He appeared to be between 30-40 years old and he wore prescription glasses. He was balding on the top of his head. The suspect in that case was operating a dark colored SUV.

The second incident occurred on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at approximately 3:30 am, in the area of Stahl Pointe Rd. and Ordinance Rd, Baltimore (Anne Arundel County). In that case the victim was Picked up in the area of Fairhaven Avenue and Elmtree Street in the Baltimore City section of Curtis Bay and driven to this location and sexually assaulted by the suspect. The suspect was described as a white male in his late 30s with very short blond hair and a beard. He was operating an older model dark colored pick up truck with a silver toolbox attached.

Although the suspects in these incidents are not known to the victims, the victims in both cases voluntarily entered the vehicles and drove away with the suspects from where they were picked up. All citizens are reminded to exercise good personal safety practices and not solicit or accept rides from people they do not know.
