Man dies after boating accident

boating accidentThree people were injured, one critically, in a boating accident near Whitehall Creek Sunday night. Just before 11 p.m., firefighters responded to a report from a residence in the 1400 block of Sharps Point Road stating that a boat struck the rock jetty, and people were yelling for help. Additional information indicated that two people were injured, and one was missing. Firefighters along with officers from the Maryland Natural Resources Police and personnel from the United States Coast Guard located a boat which had struck the jetty near the entrance to Whitehall Creek.

Two injured people were brought to shore by the Natural Resources Police. The missing patient, a 49-year-old male, was located on the rocks and had critical injuries suffered when he was ejected from the boat. He was transported by Maryland State Police Medevac helicopter to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with injuries that proved to be fatal. The two other patients, a 49-year-old male, and a 48-year-old male were transported by paramedics to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries.
