In record-breaking game, Rosa homers, longest consecutive game streak in Baysox history

baysoxIn his record setting game, Garabez Rosa hit a two-run, first inning home run but the Baysox fell Tuesday night in Reading, 4-2.

Rosa, playing second base and batting clean-up, came to the plate with a runner on and two down in the first inning. He proceeded to hit a breaking ball out to left field to put the Baysox up 2-0. The home run was his eighth of the year.

For Rosa the game was a team record breaking 435th played. He passes Caleb Joseph (2010-13, 2016) for the 24-year franchise record. Of the other top six on the Baysox games played list, all but one played in the big leagues. Baysox current hitting coach Howie Clark is sixth in games played all-time.

The home run would be the only scoring for Bowie in the game. John Means made a strong start working four 1-2-3 innings in his six of work. He worked into the seventh inning in a 2-2 tie but Harold Martinez doubled and KC Serna then delivered the decisive blow. Serna hit a two-run home run to left for his fourth of the year and Reading led 4-2.

Tanner Scott worked two scoreless innings walking none and striking out four. Julio Borbon extended his hit streak to 14 games with a first inning single. The Baysox bullpen has now not allowed a run in the six games of this roadtrip over a span of 19 and 2/3rd innings.
