Cape St. Claire teen drowns in Magothy

drowningAn 18 year old male went missing after swimming in the Little Magothy River without a life jacket on Saturday, August 6th. Around noon, firefighters responded to the 1200 block of River Bay Road for the report of the missing man. Reports indicated that the man went under the water and was swept out by the current.

Members of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Dive team, as well as boats from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, Annapolis City Fire Departments, United States Coast Guard, Natural Resources Police, and a Maryland State Police helicopter searched the area for four hours. At times, the search was suspended due to weather.

Crews recovered the man at 4:20 p.m. The Maryland Natural Resources Police is investigating the incident and has identified the victim as Christopher Thomas Cervasio, of Annapolis.
