Baysox announce 2017 schedule

Baysox2016The Bowie Baysox announce today the 2017 schedule for the 25th season of Baysox baseball.  The team begins the 2017 campaign on the road, but returns to Prince George’s Stadium Thursday, April 13 at 6:35 p.m. to open the 2017 home schedule with seven games against the Harrisburg Senators and the Richmond Flying Squirrels. 

During the season, the Baysox will play 70 home games over 13 homestands, concluding with the home finale Thursday, August 31 against the Trenton Thunder, before the Baysox end the regular season on the road. This is one less home game than the Baysox played in 2016 as the Eastern League schedule will decrease from 142 to 140 games in 2017.

The Baysox most common home opponent next season is the Richmond Flying Squirrels and Altoona Curve, who play 11 games in Bowie. Erie comes to Bowie for nine games, the Akron RubberDucks will play seven in Bowie and the Senators will play six games at Prince George’s Stadium. The Hartford Yard Goats lead all Eastern Division teams with seven games in Bowie, the Reading Fightin Phils come six times, the Thunder play four in Bowie and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Binghamton Mets and Portland Sea Dogs each play in Bowie three times.

The Baysox will continue to hold games Monday through Thursday and Saturday at 6:35 p.m. from April through late June. However, the Baysox will play all Friday games during the 2017 season at 7:05 p.m. In July and August, the majority of games Monday through Thursday will be moved back to 7:05 p.m. All Saturday games will continue to be played at 6:35 p.m. and all Sunday home games will begin at 2:05 p.m.  Exceptions to those times include five 11:05 a.m. games on Tuesday, May 2, Wednesday, May 3, Thursday, May 25, Thursday, June. 29 and Thursday, Aug. 10. The Baysox will also play at 2:05 p.m. on Easter Saturday, April 15. 

The Baysox will play 10 April home games in 2017. The team will then play 16 home games in May, 14 home games in June, 14 home games in July and 16 home games in August. 

The full Baysox schedule will be unveiled at a later date and 2017 season tickets will go on sale in the fall.
