Arts Alive 18 to kick off the social season on September 9th

Arts Alive 18

Arts Alive 18Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts (MHCA) will host its 18th annual Arts Alive fundraising event on Friday, September 9th from 6-11 pm with a Motown Band–the “Original” Moonlighters–as the featured performers.   Arts Alive 17 (in 2015) netted more than $170,000 towards creative arts programs in support of MHCA’s mission to bring art for all to our community.

This year’s event, chaired by Maryland Hall Board member Barbara Copeland Jackson (BB&T Bank), kicks off at 6 pm in a giant “tent under the stars” on Maryland Hall’s front driveway with an extensive silent auction of unique and rare items and experiences.  Tasting stations featuring signature dishes and drinks donated by area restaurants, caterers and hotels will allow guests to sample delicious food throughout the evening.  At 8 pm, guests will come inside Maryland Hall’s theatre to bid on items in a live auction, participate in a raffle to win an overseas trip and then groove to the sounds of a 12-piece Motown band.  The theatre’s orchestra pit will be open for dancing and additional food and drink will be available for guests to sample during the performance.

More than 500 people are expected at Arts Alive 18, including government and community leaders, arts patrons, business leaders and Maryland Hall members.  Tickets for the event are $150 per person and event sponsorships are from $1,500 to $25,000 which includes tickets for 10 people, reserved theatre seating and numerous recognition opportunities.

“Arts Alive has kicked off the social season for the past 17 years.  This event continues to popular because it’s fun and brings together so many people in our community,” says Maryland Hall President Linnell Bowen.  “It’s a casual party that year after year brings new people to Maryland Hall and helps raise money to support our education classes, exhibits, performances and outreach programs.”
