Annapolis Police arrest Annapolis man in connection with Clay Street shooting

Tyrone Thomas, 22, of Annapolis was arrested today for attempted first degree murder.  These charges stem from a shots fired incident on Clay and Pleasant Streets on the night of August 16th.  Two homes were struck by bullets during the incident.

Annapolis Police Department officers and detectives worked quickly to gather evidence, talk to witnesses, and identify the shooter.  As a result of the investigation Detectives were able to identify Thomas as the shooter in the incident and obtained a warrant for his arrest on August 17.  Thomas targeted a vehicle with two occupants, shooting at them while they fled from him.   

“The fast actions and thorough investigation of this case by our officers and detectives led to Thomas’ arrest,” said Chief Michael Pristoop.  “Their dedication and the help of the community shows the commitment to fighting violent crime in Annapolis.

“To be successful in combating violent crime, we must continue to nurture the relationship between our communities and our police force,” Mayor Pantelides said.  “I am proud of the reaction time based on the combined efforts of the residents and our dedicated police force.”
