FOUND!Missing: Critically missing man from Severna Park

On July 25, 2016 at approximately 6:30 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of North Drive in Severna Park for a missing person. Offices spoke with family members that advised that William Merelman, who suffers from dementia, left his house at approximately 5:30 p.m. and they were unable to locate him. An extensive search of the area was conducted by officers, police helicopter, and canine units from Anne Arundel County and Maryland State Police. Police canines led to the area of Twain’s Tavern on B&A Blvd. A neighborhood alert was sent out, and numerous neighbors also assisted in checking the area.

Today, July 26, 2016 officers continue canvassing the area for Mr. Merelman which now includes the Severna Park area and parts of Pasadena. Uniform officers are showing fliers to local business owners, and social media/neighborhood alerts will continue.

William Merelman is 84 years old, and is described as 6’0” tall and weighs approximately 180 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black fleece pullover, navy blue gym pants, and possibly an unknown type baseball hat. He was last seen leaving his residence in the 300 block of North Drive in Severna Park.

There are no suspicious factors in this incident. Mr. Merelman’s dementia diagnosis is believed to be the sole factor as to why he is missing. We are asking anyone who has seen or sees Mr. Merelman to please call 9-1-1.
