Double homicide in Severn

MurderOn Saturday, July 9, 2016 at approximately 11:58 p.m., Anne Arundel County Western District Patrol Officers responded to the 7600 block of Sandy Farm Road, Severn, Maryland for a possible residential burglary.  Upon arrival officers located a male inside of the residence suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.   The male had forced his way into the residence through a window.  The male was transported to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center where he was later pronounced deceased.

Officers checked the area and located an occupied white pick-up truck located a short distance from the residence.  Inside the truck was a deceased male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The preliminary investigation has revealed both subjects were shot at another residence located in the 7600 block of Sandy Farm Road during a confrontation with a resident at that location.  Both males fled this location after being shot.  The male who forced his way into the residence that prompted the initial call apparently entered the home seeking assistance for his gunshot wound.  The male found in the pick-up truck apparently entered the vehicle after being shot and attempted to drive out of the area before succumbing to his injuries.

Anne Arundel County Homicide Detectives and Western District Detectives responded to the scene and began their investigation. Several witnesses were located and interviewed in regards to the shooting. Homicide detectives and the Evidence Collection Unit are in the process of conducting numerous searches and executing search warrants to collect items of evidentiary value.   At this time detectives have identified all parties involved in this incident and are piecing together what happened and caused the death of the two individuals. Through their preliminary investigation, the Anne Arundel County Police Department believes this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner located in Baltimore will conduct autopsies on the deceased individuals to determine the exact cause and manner of their death. The victims’ names will be released pending positive identification and notification of their relatives. These two deaths mark the seventh and eighth homicide for Anne Arundel County this year. As the investigation continues more updates will follow.

This is a very fluid and active investigation and the Anne Arundel County Police are urging anyone with information to come forward by calling the Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Unit at 410-222-4731. If people with information wish to remain anonymous they can also contact the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line 410-222-4700 or Metro Crime Stoppers.
