Baysox, Travis Manion Foundation team up for Navy night on August 5th

911HeroesRunThe Bowie Baysox are teaming up with the Travis Manion Foundation for Navy Night at Prince George’s Stadium on Friday, August 5, against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at 7:05 p.m.

“We are so pleased to be working in conjunction with the Travis Manion Foundation and Navy Night is a perfect fit,” said Adam Pohl, Baysox Director of Broadcasting. “What a fun night it will be to come raise funds for the Foundation by coming to a ballgame.”

The special evening at the ballpark will honor our country’s service men and women, veterans, first responders and fallen heroes. It will also feature the attendance of the United States Naval Academy Class of 2020 along with a representative of the Travis Manion Foundation throwing out the first pitch.

Additionally, a donation will be made to the Travis Manion Foundation for each ticket sold using the coupon code: TRAVIS. The donations will be used to support the Foundation’s Annapolis 9/11 Heroes Run 5K, which will take place at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium on Sunday, September 11 at 2 p.m.

“There is no other night more perfect than Navy Night to launch our new partnership with the Bowie Baysox,” said Natanya Levioff, Deputy Race Director for the Annapolis 9/11 Heroes Run. “We are thrilled to have this opportunity and we look forward to many more Navy Nights to come.”

The 9/11 Heroes Run series was inspired by Marine 1st Lt. Travis Manion, a Naval Academy graduate who was killed by a sniper in Iraq in April 2007 as he protected his battalion. Before his final deployment, Travis visited Rescue One in NYC—famous for losing almost all of their men on 9/11—and returned home with a deeper passion about why he was fighting in Iraq. At its heart, the 9/11 Heroes Run is a tribute to Travis’ personal commitment to never forget the heroes of that day.

The Foundation has hosted 9/11 Heroes Run events across the country where communities come together to thank and support veterans, first responders, service members and local Gold Star Families of those who have died in service to our nation. Last year more than 1,500 individuals and families participated in the Annapolis event.

Proceeds raised from the Annapolis 9/11 Heroes Run will support the Foundation’s programs assisting veterans, families of the fallen, and promoting character among today’s youth.

As part of Navy Night at the ballpark, officials with the Travis Manion Foundation will have a booth where people can learn more about the Foundation’s mission and register for the upcoming Annapolis 9/11 Heroes Run. Fans will be treated to a fireworks show following the game.
