Anne Arundel Community College’s board of trustees welcomes two new members – Lawrence W. Ulvila Jr. and Adam J. Hertz – who recently were appointed by Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan.
Ulvila, an Annapolis resident, also chairs the Anne Arundel Medical Center Outreach Council on Mental Illness and Alcohol/Substance Use and is on the board of Leadership Anne Arundel. He is past chair of the Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation board, AACC Foundation board, Annapolis and Anne Arundel Chamber of Commerce, The 21st Century Education Foundation and the National Association of Insurance Agents and Financial Advisors Anne Arundel County. He also is a founding partner of Insurance Solutions. Ulvila’s six-year term on the board began July 1.
Hertz, of Linthicum Heights, is the new student trustee. A 2015 home school graduate, he is in his second year at AACC majoring in business administration. He is a Ratcliffe Scholarship recipient, member of the Entrepreneurship club, vice president of leadership for the school’s chapter of Phi Theta Kappa and a member of the Student Government Association. He plans to transfer to the University of Maryland College Park to complete a degree in finance before starting a career in financial analysis. His one-year term on the board began July 1.
The two join the college’s eight-member governing board, which meets monthly, from September through June. For information about the board, visit here.
