Schuh recognized for government reform efforts

Seal-01The National Association of Counties (NACo) will award County Executive Steve Schuh and Anne Arundel County a 2016 Achievement Award for a government reform initiative titled “Improving Communication With Core Groups” in the category of County Administration Management.

“We are working every day to make county government more efficient, effective, and customer friendly,” said Schuh. “Our regular core group meetings between county departments ensure that no problem goes unaddressed. I thank the National Association of Counties for their recognition of this effective management tool.”

Immediately upon coming to office, Schuh reorganized county government executive departments into six core groups that meet regularly to discuss issues of shared interest. Through these core group meetings, problems are addressed swiftly and reforms can be implemented more effectively. The different core groups are directly managed by Schuh, Chief of Staff Diane Croghan, and Chief Administrative Officer Mark Hartzell.

As a 2016 Achievement Award winner, Anne Arundel County will be presented the award at the Achievement Awards Luncheon on July 24, 2016 at NACo’s 2016 Annual Conference and Exposition in Los Angeles County, California. NACo will list each award winner in the event’s program booklet, and honor the Best of Category winners on stage.
