More details released in Beards Point Rd. fatal accident

This is the Anne Arundel County Police update on the fatal accident on Friday night.

FatalBeardsPointRd061716-1On June 17th, 2016 at approximately 10:40pm officers responded to a single vehicle crash on Beards Point Road near Beards Creek Drive in Davidsonville. Investigation revealed that a Ford Mustang was southbound on Beards Point Road at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle began to skid, left the roadway, and struck a tree sideways in the passenger side door.

The belted front passenger was declared dead at the scene and was taken to the medical examiner in Baltimore for autopsy. One unbelted rear passenger was ejected and landed in the woods. He was taken by helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with critical injuries. The other belted rear seat passenger was taken to Shock Trauma with critical injuries. The driver was taken by ambulance to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with precautionary injuries.

The preliminary cause of the crash is excessive speed and reckless driving. A contributing factor may be drug and/or alcohol use. Traffic Safety is handling the investigation and any charges are pending review by the States Attorney.

Front Passenger:    John David Fisher of Edgewater (fatal injuries)

Rear Passenger:     Edward W. Dicey of Riva  (critical injuries)

Rear Passenger:     Christine Baerga of Odenton   (critical injuries)
