Late runs contribute to Father’s Day win for Baysox

Baysox 2016Tucker Nathans and Austin Wynns each had four hits and the Baysox got home runs from Drew Dosch and Julio Borbon as the bats came alive in a 9-4 win in Erie Sunday afternoon.

It did not look throughout as if this would be the script. The Baysox trailed 4-2 into the seventh inning as the Erie pen entered the game. Borbon would hit his solo shot with one down and that sparked the rally. Four consecutive singles followed to grab the lead with a three-run rally.

Up 5-4 in the eighth inning the Baysox were not done. Wynns doubled to lead off the frame and scored on a sacrifice bunt thrown away off the bat of Adrian Marin. With one down a perfectly executed hit and run saw Borbon single and Marin go from first to third base. Borbon then stoles second and with the infield in, Nathans doubled home both runners to the wall in right field. The Baysox had an 8-4 lead.

Bowie got a great effort from their bullpen. Bobby Bundy worked a season-high 2 and 1/3rd innings of scoreless relief for the win. Genison Reyes and Donnie Hart each worked a scoreless inning to end the game. The Bayson did add a final run in the top of the ninth inning.

After an off day, Bowie returns home on Tuesday, June 21st night for the beginning of a six-game homestand that will see both Trenton and Altoona come to town. Get tickets at 301-805-6000 or online at baysox.com. Brandon Barker will get the start Tuesday night.
