On Friday, June 24, at 8 pm, classically trained guitarist Flavio Sala will perform “Mi Guitarra y Mis Amores” (My Guitar and My Loves) a concert that will feature his favorite composers and performers taking music from several countries around the world and showcasing his captivating versatility as a performer. From classical music to jazz, flamenco to pop, Flavio loves to surprise his audiences with the range of his mastery. This 4th Friday concert rescheduled from January due to inclement weather will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis (UUCA), 333 Dubois Road. Tickets are $15 at the door. For more information visit www.uuannapolis.org/slider/fourth-friday or call 410-266-8044 Monday – Thursday.

This concert will present international music that reflects the performer’s favorite songs, artists and composers. The music is from his latest CD on which he is joined by some of those artists, such as Steve Howe of YES and ASIA; Rafael Pollo Brito the sensational singer from Venezuela; Cuban-born Latin Jazz pianist Cesar Orozco; and others. It will be an evening full of surprises and wonderful music. Adding to the occasion, Flavio will sing a few songs.

My goal is to travel around the world, making people happy, falling in love with my guitar, playing all the music I love and showing them how much power six nylon strings have! Yes, I love dreaming big!” he says. That’s why Flavio’s shows are unique: they can start with classical music and end with a pop song, crossing different music styles, experiencing a mix of feelings. Forget about your problems and how hard life could sometimes be,” says Flavio. Music makes you walk where the steps cannot go and that is what I want people to live during my shows.

Flavio Sala has won several international prizes, has a discography of nine albums, and is recognized for his technical ability, versatility, and sensitivity.  “Flavio Sala is the new Paganini of guitar” according to Venezuelan classical guitarist Alirio Diaz.

Flavio has toured extensively in Europe, Russia, the United States, South America and Cuba, performing with renowned musicians all over the world. He has appeared with likes of the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Milano Classica, Jury Bashmet New Russia Orchestra, Russian Philharmony, Mina Gerais Symphony Orchestra and Yekaterinburg Folk Orchestra, playing in venues in Moscow, Rome, Athens, Caracas, Buenos Aires, San Francisco and other places.  He has been performing in the U. S. at universities and popular entertainment venues.

Concert pianist Brian Ganz was the inspiration of the 4th Friday series, is Artistic Director and periodic performer.  All concerts are offered at 8PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis (UUCA). Individual tickets are $15, and a Friday Five Pack can be obtained at the door for $60 ($12 per ticket). The next concert is July 22 and will feature rising artist Sungpil Kim, an award-winning classical pianist presenting Reflections on Music and Meaning.
